For cruise passengers it is possible to extend our Tallinn Food Tour with a sightseeing part on bus taking you through the part of the Tallinn modern city centre and Kadriorg residential area to Kadriorg park with views and photo stops at KUMU - the Art Museum of Estonia, Kadriorg Palace, further stop at Famous Song Festival Grounds, drive with nice views to Tallinn Old Town from Pirita scenic road with photo stops at St. Bridget's Convent and at 1980's Olympics Tallinn Yacht centre.
Kadriorg Palace, was built in 1723 by Peter the Great in honor of his empress wife Catherine I. Its magnificent scale is enhanced by its setting on several levels, with upper and lower gardens in contrasting styles. The Swan Pond with its picturesque island and the grottoes in the upper garden are a visual delight. Kadriorg means “Catherine’s valley” in Estonian, although the Tsarina seldom visited the palace. Since the Russian revolution, the ornate palace rooms have been used as an art museum and following closure in recent years Kadriorg has reopened now in its former glory.
Kumu is the headquarters of the Art Museum of Estonia, as well as the largest and most impressive exhibition venue in Estonia. The museum opened on 17 February 2006. In 2008 Kumu received the European Museum of the Year Award.
Tallinn Song Festival Grounds (photo-stop), an important part of Tallinn’s cultural life and music lovers. The ground is a natural amphitheater that seats 300,000. Further drive will take you by the scenic Pirita Highway. You will see the Olympic Yachting Complex in Pirita, the base for sailing events in the 1980 Olympics.
You will have also a view at the ruins and modern part of St. Bridget's Convent, with its history dating back to XV century.
There is 2 ways for you to add 1,5~2h city tour to the Tallinn Food Tour:
A) We can prolong the arrival transfer a bit, so that it would include a bit longer tour in the city, including tour to Kadriorg Park, views to our famous Song Festival grounds, the seaside road leading to Pirita 1980’s Yacht Olympics centre, and view and/or entrance to Pirita Monastery ruins. At the end of the tour the bus will take you to the starting point of Tallinn Food Tour (further on foot). Transfer to the cruise port at the program end.
B) Or we can prolong our guide presence after the walking food tour part in the old town, and you’d continue your tour on bus through part of the city centre heading then to Pirita and Kadriorg, and would include view stops at Kadriorg Palace, Song Festival Grounds, Pirita 1980's Olympic Center, Pirita Monastery ruins. Tour would then end at the cruise terminal.
